Profile

Noé Tavelli is a Genevan drummer and composer who took an interest in improvised music from a very young age.  After being trained at the AMR, and then the Geneva Conservatoire Populaire de Musique, he continued his studies at the Lausanne Haute École de Musique and the Manhattan School of Music in New York.  His style of playing, which is both modern and grounded in the jazz tradition, has been further developed by working with great masters like Eric McPherson, Jeff Ballard, Jorge Rossy, or Dan Weiss.

He has performed on Swiss and international stages together with such performers as Dee Dee Bridgewater, David Liebman, Ohad Talmor, Florian Favre, or Gabriel Zufferey.  As the leader of the Noé Tavelli Double-Drum Quartet with Eric MacPherson, he is also involved in many collaborative projects.

In 2019, he produced the Noé Tavelli & The Argonauts Collective (Jazz Magazine revelation), followed in 2022 by the critically acclaimed Inner Streams on the label Fresh Sound New Talent.  He has been awarded the Friedl Wald Scholarship, and now teaches jazz drumming at the Geneva Conservatoire Populaire de Musique while continuing to participate in many concerts and creative activities.
