Sofie Garcia
Profile
.
Sofie Garcia won the Tsvetana Marthaler prize in 2023 and was a finalist in the 2023 Autumn Symphonies competition, and is now studying with Clemence Tilquin for a Performance Master’s at the Geneva Haute École de Musique (after having obtained a Master’s in Pedagogy in June 2023).
She is passionate about all kinds of singing: from Alstisidore (“Don Quixote at the Duchess” - Boismortier) to Melisande (“Pelleas and Melisande” - Debussy) and Lucy (“The Telephone” - Menotti). She recently co-wrote and performed in a show based on Menotti’s “Telephone”, against the backdrop of a patchwork of XXth-century American music. She is a co-founding member of the vocal septet “Vagabondes” ( in residence at La Cité de la Voix Quotidiennes 2023), and works regularly with several groups (“Les Metaboles”, “Les Voix Animées”, “Amarilia”, and the Dijon Opera chorus as well the chorus of the Grand Theatre de Geneve).
Recently she was a soloist in a Handel recital with Franck Marcon for the Royal Organ Road Festival, in the Namur Grand Manège in the Arcadelt de Cappella Mediterranean programme, and in the Grand Theatre de Geneve productions of Souris Traviata and Colorama. She sang Manuela in the world re-creation and recording of Erlanger’s “The Witch” in Geneva’s Victoria Hall under the baton of Guillaume Tourniaire. In 2024, she participated as a soloist madrigalist in the creation “Amour à mort” at the Cité Bleue conducted by Leonardo Garcia Alarcon.
