Antonio Garcia started out in music with the accordeon, studying with Jean-Rene Gluck. He then began studying the organ with Bernard Heiniger in Bienne and then with Jean-Francois Vaucher at the Lausanne Haute École de Musique. He also spent a year at the Berlin Universitat der Kunste studying with Leo van Doesselaar, Dirk Elsemann, and Paolo Crivellaro. Subsequently he completed his training in Hamburg and Groningen with Erwin Wiersinga, Wolfgang Zerer, Theo Jellema and Pieter van Dijk for the organ, Johan Hofmann and Menno van Delft for the harpsichord, and Nata Tsvereli for the piano - and a sideline of the accordeon with Carel Kraayenhof.
He has been a soloist as organist in many churches and concert halls; in particular, he helped to create a composition entitled “Le jour étoilé” by the Neuchatel composer Steve Muriset, as well as “Requiem for Icarus” by. the Russian-American composer, Lera Auerbach, in the Verbier Festival Orchestra, and he was also in the orchestra for the Poulenc and Rheinberger concertos and Samuel Barbwr’s Toccata Festiva.
He is currently resident organist in the Bern French Church and teaches in the Bern Haute école de musique in the Church Music Department. He is also “Orgelinspektor” at the Bern Casino, and, together with Gabriel Wolfer, organ curator at the Bellelay Abbey.
